Joseph Spitzer

Joseph Spitzer’s background and experience spans over forty years beginning in the field of commercial real estate in the late 1970’s while working for various property management companies. During this time, Mr. Spitzer learned virtually every aspect of operating an investment property from painting, installing dry wall, making basic electrical repairs, replacing faulty locks, flushing HVAC lines, fixing toilets, and collecting rents. After years of hard work, living modestly, and of course with a little luck, he found himself in a position in the early 1980’s to purchase some abandoned properties in the borough of Brooklyn from the City of New York and proceeded to rehabilitate and lease these assets.

In subsequent years, other opportunities presented themselves including the acquisition of rental apartment buildings that he successfully converted to cooperative units creating value for both himself and residents alike. The early 90’s brought ground up development opportunities in residential real estate in the boroughs of Brooklyn and Manhattan.

Harry Spitzer has worked in the field of commercial real estate operations and management for the past 11 years. Starting in high school at the age of 16, he began working for his father Joseph Spitzer’s property management company Allstate Realty Associates, Inc. (“Allstate”) based in Brooklyn, NY. Choosing to focus on the family business rather than pursue a college degree, Mr. Spitzer began a full-time position with Allstate at age 18 and for the next five years, was engaged primarily in property management activities covering every aspect of physical operations for both multifamily and commercial assets. In this capacity, Mr. Spitzer has had responsibilities covering every aspect of property maintenance, vendor supervision, bidding and negotiating vendor contracts, implementing capital improvement programs, and managing tenant relations for a portfolio of properties. Later on, Mr. Spitzer began working part-time at Norman’s dairy, a company which manufactures Greek yoghurt and is 50% owned by his father, Joseph Spitzer. With a solid understanding of dairy production and wholesaling.

In 2017, Mr. Spitzer made his first private equity investment alongside some highly prominent NY based family offices. The Spitzer family made its first retail food investment purchasing a 50% interest in Organic Avenue, a New York City based wholesale and retail food company specializing in cold pressed juices and organic food specialty items with Harry Spitzer overseeing the Spitzer family’s interests in the business. In addition to his current responsibilities with Allstate and HS Capital, Inc., his private equity portfolio has grown with a range of investments that include bio-tech, energy, interior design firms and consumer packed food companies.

Mr. Spitzer then entered the Florida real estate market in 2014 with the acquisition of Flagler West Corporate Center, a mixed-use office/retail property located in the Fontainebleau neighborhood in west Dade county with some 150,000 square feet of gross leasable area.
